I’ve made this mistake before: I thought having CE certification was enough to sell globally, but because we hadn’t obtained BIS certification for the Indian market, our goods were stuck at the port and couldn’t be imported, resulting in massive losses.
That’s why MINJCODE secures the necessary certifications for each product in its target markets in advance, so you can avoid these pitfalls.
| Certification | Applicable Markets | Description |
| CE | 28 EU Member States | Mandatory certification; products may be legally sold |

Scanned copies of all certification documents are available for third-party verification.

What types of businesses use POS machines?
Virtually every business needs some way to accept and process customer payments, and POS machines help them do that. However, customer-facing businesses like retailers and restaurants most commonly use these systems.
Can POS terminals be used for online transactions?
Many POS terminals can be integrated with e-commerce platforms to process online transactions.
How do I connect my touch POS machine online?
You can usually connect to the POS machine online via Wi-Fi or directly via an Ethernet cable.
How can POS machines help me enhance my customer experience?
POS machines can enhance the customer experience by speeding up checkout, offering multiple payment options, and streamlining the shopping process.
When using the POS as a cashier, the process is usually as follows:
Login: Enter your user name and password to start the POS.
Start Transaction: Initiates a new transaction.
Restaurant Scenario: At the restaurant, select food and beverages from the menu and enter the number of products or orders.
Calculate Amount: Click to calculate the total amount in order to continue the payment process.
Retail Store Scenario: At a retail shop, use the barcode scanner to scan products or manually enter product information.
Select Payment Method: Select a payment method such as cash, credit card, contactless payment or QR code payment.
Process Payment: Payment is processed according to the selected payment method, such as receiving cash, swiping a card or scanning a code. This will generate the order receipt.
Issue receipt: Print the receipt to the customer or send it to them via email.
A point-of-sale (POS) system records the products or services a customer intends to purchase, adds up the items’ cost, calculates tax, accepts various forms of payment, and generates a receipt.
A POS system differs from a cash register in that it has advanced features that make it easier for merchants to manage sales data, inventory, customers and employees. It has three components: software, hardware and a credit card processor.
More complex setups may include the following POS equipment.
Monitor or display screen: Here, you’ll see all the sales details you’re processing and can view the steps needed to complete the transaction.
Keyboard: Some POS systems include keyboards to manually enter transaction amounts or type in customer phone numbers or email addresses. Many of these keyboards have functions specific to certain industries, so make sure any keyboards you purchase meet all your daily needs.
Cash drawers: These drawers store cash along with receipts and other paperwork. Cash drawers should receive open and close signals from your digital POS interface.
Barcode scanners: These devices read the barcodes on the items you sell and convert this information to product names and prices that appear on your POS monitor. This function facilitates sales and allows you to automate your inventory tracking.
Signature-capture device: Although the card networks no longer require signature verification in most instances, your business may still find them necessary. These devices capture customer signatures digitally.
Receipt printer: To finalize the transaction, this device prints a summary of the buyer’s purchases. You should always ask the customer if they want the receipt, and it never hurts to keep a copy for yourself if your POS system allows this.
User-facing kiosk: Those touchscreen self-service kiosks through which you place orders at fast-food chains count as all in one POS hardware. If your business prepares items on demand for customers in a storefront, these kiosks can minimize order miscommunications and streamline order retrieval.
Digital scales: When charging for items by weight, a digital scale can be a helpful addition to your POS system. A digital scale quickly computes the price you’ll charge for weight-based sales. The software connecting your scale to your POS system should also make corresponding changes to your inventory.
Routers: Though not exactly POS hardware, you can’t run a POS system without an internet connection. That’s why some POS companies sell internet routers. Buying a router from a POS company is a one-time cost that’s likely less expensive over time than obtaining one from your internet service provider. An ISP router is usually a rental for which you pay monthly.
Digital menu boards and kitchen display systems: Some restaurants might benefit from these additional two types of POS hardware. Like user-facing kiosks, they help customers see what they can order from you and may assist in actually placing the order. Many restaurant-focused POS providers sell these items, which may be more affordable through a bundle or package deal.

The original POS was a simple cash register. It wasn’t very useful by today’s standards, but it kept track of every sale the cashier made. As long as you knew how much cash was in the till at the start of the day, you could work out if any money was missing. Your daily totals show whether your sales are increasing or decreasing, and by counting the number of transactions you can calculate the value of an average sale. If you know the dollar value of your starting stock, you can also work backwards from your sales totals to see if you’ve suffered a loss due to stock theft or unrecorded sales. These are basic POS features that made running a retail business easier even with the earliest cash registers.
Over time, cash registers have become more powerful. They can be programmed to add the appropriate taxes to the selling price so you don’t have to calculate them manually, and they can record taxes for accounting purposes. They can provide subtotals by product or product category, and finally – as computers become cheaper and generally easier to use – they are designed to interact with computerised back-end software. This was a key point in the transformation of traditional cash registers into point-of-sale systems (the term we use today).
